Sheila Glesmann
Sheila Glesmann is a mechanical engineer, energy and emissions control expert, and owner of Emission Strategies, Inc. Since the mid-1990s, one of her areas of expertise has been mercury control and technology demonstrations.
Her role in many DOE, EPRI and utility-sponsored pilot- and full-scale testing programs contributed to the commercialization of powdered activated carbon as the standard approach for mercury control at coal-fired power plants. She has also been responsible for operations at power plants with past responsibilities for environmental planning and execution, including her role as Responsible Official at Title V facilities.
She led the development of ADA Carbon Solutions’ Red River facility, which was the first major activated carbon facility dedicated to flue gas mercury control. This involved siting, permitting and overseeing the construction and startup of the Louisiana plant, which is a highly-automated, state-of-the-art manufacturing plant that has been in operation since 2010.
